Currents are great river of seawater and flow in circular paths. Ocean currents move heat back and forth between tropics and polar regions. The Earth's winds and rotation are varying ocean temperatures create ocean currents. There are both cooler and warmer ocean currents throughout the world. An example of a warm current is the Northward flowing gulf stream. An Example of a cool current is the Southward flowing California current.
